PRECISION ATV CORE EXCHANGE PROGRAM

Most Precision ATV remanufactured engines are sold through our Core Exchange Program.

Our core program allows us to recover and remanufacture usable OEM components while keeping replacement engine costs as affordable as possible.

Precision ATV offers a No Upfront Core Charge on qualifying orders. Instead of paying the full core charge when you place your order, you agree to return your original engine core after receiving your Precision ATV remanufactured engine.

Your returned engine will be inspected and classified as a Good Core, Bad Core, or No Core.

WHAT IS AN ENGINE CORE?

Your core is the original engine from your ATV or UTV that is being replaced by the Precision ATV remanufactured engine.

We use these engines to recover and remanufacture OEM components for future engine builds.

To qualify as a complete core, the engine must be the correct make and model and include the major components required for rebuilding.

Major components include, but are not limited to:

  • Crankcase / engine block

  • Cylinder head

  • Cylinder

  • Crankshaft

  • Connecting rods

  • Camshafts

  • Balance shaft, when applicable

  • Internal engine components

  • Required engine hardware

Do not remove usable internal components from your old engine before returning it.

Ported, extensively modified, or aftermarket major components may not qualify for full core credit.

OPTION 1 — SEND YOUR CORE FIRST

Customers may send their original engine to Precision ATV before their remanufactured engine is built or shipped.

Once your engine arrives, Precision ATV will inspect the core and determine its condition.

Sending your core first eliminates uncertainty regarding its condition and any potential Bad Core charges before your replacement engine is completed.

Certain engine models may require the original core to be received before production begins due to core availability.

OPTION 2 — NO UPFRONT CORE CHARGE / CREDIT CARD ON FILE

On qualifying orders, Precision ATV can ship your remanufactured engine without collecting the full core charge upfront.

Before your remanufactured engine ships, Precision ATV will contact you to place a valid credit card on file to secure the return of your engine core.

Your card will not be charged a core fee at that time. The card is kept on file as security for the core return and any applicable Bad Core, No Core, missing component, late return, or other authorized core-related charges.

Once your card information is on file, your remanufactured engine can be shipped. You can then complete the engine swap and return your original engine to Precision ATV.

Your returned core must be shipped within 15 BUSINESS DAYS of confirmed delivery of your Precision ATV remanufactured engine.

If your core is returned on time and passes inspection as a Good Core, there is no additional core charge.

If your core is determined to be a Bad Core, all damage will be documented and picture proof will be provided to you before any Bad Core damage charges are made.

If the core is not returned within the required 15-day period, the applicable No Core / Full Core Charge may be charged to the authorized payment method on file.

GOOD CORE — $0 ADDITIONAL CORE CHARGE

If everything checks out and the major components are complete and rebuildable, your engine will be classified as a Good Core.

A Good Core satisfies your core obligation, and no additional core charge will be added to your order.

A Good Core Includes:

  • Good, rebuildable cylinder head

  • Good, rebuildable crankcase / engine block

  • No holes in the crankcase

  • No spun or severely damaged main bearing journals

  • Major required internal components are present

  • Correct engine make and model is returned

Your engine does not have to run to qualify as a Good Core.

Failed crankshafts, connecting rods, pistons, cylinders, bearings, valves, and other normal internal engine failures do not automatically make an engine a Bad Core.

A blown engine can still be a Good Core.

 

BAD CORE — ADDITIONAL CORE CHARGE

We understand that engine failures do not always leave behind a completely rebuildable engine.

Even a severely damaged engine may contain valuable components that can still be remanufactured.

A returned engine may be classified as a Bad Core when one or more major components are missing, damaged beyond repair, or unsuitable for our remanufacturing process.

Examples Include:

  • Non-rebuildable cylinder head

  • Non-rebuildable crankcase / engine block

  • Holes in the crankcase

  • Spun or severely damaged main bearing journals

  • Major cracks or structural crankcase damage

  • Severe fire damage

  • Severe corrosion or water damage

  • Missing major internal components

  • Components removed before returning the core

  • Incorrect engine or engine family

  • Major aftermarket or modified components that cannot be used in our remanufacturing program

How Bad Core Charges Work

A Bad Core does not automatically mean you will be charged the full core amount.

Precision ATV will inspect the engine and determine which major components are usable and which are damaged, missing, or non-rebuildable.

Additional charges will be based on the applicable Bad Core charge or damaged/missing component value for that engine family.

Damage Documentation Before Charges

All core damage will be documented during the inspection process.

If your core is determined to have damaged, missing, or non-rebuildable components:

  • Precision ATV will document the specific damage found.

  • Picture proof of the damaged or non-rebuildable components will be supplied to the customer.

  • The applicable Bad Core charge will be identified.

  • This documentation will be provided before any Bad Core damage charges are made to the authorized payment method on file.

Our goal is to make the core inspection process clear and transparent so you understand what was found, why the core did not qualify as a Good Core, and what you are being charged for.

A Bad Core must still be returned to Precision ATV.

NO CORE — FULL CORE CHARGE

If you do not have an engine core to return, an additional No Core / Full Core Charge will apply.

An engine may also be classified as No Core when:

  • No engine is returned

  • The core is not returned within the required return period

  • An incorrect engine is returned

  • The returned engine is missing enough major components that it can no longer reasonably be considered a complete engine core

No Core charges vary depending on the engine make and model.

Some Polaris, Can-Am, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Honda applications may not be available without a core.

If you do not have a core, contact Precision ATV before placing your order to confirm availability and pricing.

 

15-DAY CORE RETURN REQUIREMENT

Your original engine core must be shipped back within 15 days of confirmed delivery of your Precision ATV remanufactured engine, unless other arrangements have been approved by Precision ATV in writing.

If your core is not returned within the required period, the applicable No Core / Full Core Charge may be charged to the authorized payment method on file.

Charging a No Core fee does not automatically eliminate the requirement to return the engine unless Precision ATV provides written authorization stating otherwise.

 

CORE RETURN PACKAGING

Keep the packaging your Precision ATV engine arrives in.

Your old engine should be returned using:

  • Original Precision ATV shipping box

  • Original foam inserts

  • Supplied plastic engine bag

Place your old engine into the same packaging and make sure it is properly positioned and secured before shipping.

Do not discard the original box or foam inserts.

If the original packaging is not used and the core is damaged during return shipping, additional charges may apply for damage caused during transportation.

Any return-shipping damage that results in an additional core charge will also be documented and supported with pictures before the applicable damage charge is made.

 

 

CORE INSPECTION & DAMAGE CHARGES

All returned cores are inspected by Precision ATV.

Inspection may require disassembly of the engine to properly evaluate the crankcase, cylinder head, bearing journals, crankshaft, and other internal components.

If the core passes inspection as a Good Core, your core obligation is satisfied and no additional core charge is due.

If damage, missing components, or non-rebuildable components are discovered:

1. The damage will be documented.
2. Pictures will be taken showing the damage.
3. Picture proof will be supplied to the customer.
4. The applicable charge will be explained.
5. Documentation will be provided before any Bad Core damage charge is made.

Precision ATV believes customers should be able to see and understand the reason for any core-related damage charge.

 

ONCE YOUR CORE IS RECEIVED

Once your core has been received and entered into Precision ATV's core remanufacturing process, the core may be disassembled, cleaned, machined, inspected, or combined with our core inventory.

Because of this, customers should not assume that their original engine can be returned after it has been received and processed by Precision ATV.

CORE PROGRAM SUMMARY

GOOD CORE = $0 ADDITIONAL CORE CHARGE
Complete engine with the major required components in rebuildable condition.

BAD CORE = ADDITIONAL CORE CHARGE
Engine is returned, but one or more major components are damaged, missing, modified, or non-rebuildable. All damage will be documented and picture proof supplied before Bad Core damage charges are made.

NO CORE = FULL CORE CHARGE
No qualifying engine core is returned.

IMPORTANT

A blown engine does not automatically mean you have a Bad Core.

Precision ATV expects engines to arrive with mechanical failures. Core classification is based on the condition, completeness, and rebuildability of the major core components.

All core classifications are determined by Precision ATV after inspection.
